About

This site is dedicated to my son, Dylan, who’s 9 now but has been allergic to dairy since birth. It’s been a tough journey trying to find tasty, healthy, and easy non-dairy recipes that are kid-friendly but also adult-friendly so that we can enjoy them together as a family.

Although dairy allergies in children are pretty common, they are still misunderstood and not taken as seriously as other allergies, like peanuts. Most restaurants’ kids menus don’t offer dairy-free choices and most people mistake it for an intolerance, rather than a serious allergy. When there are non-dairy options, they’re usually vegan or vegetarian; but people with a dairy allergy aren’t necessarily.

As a parent, I never want my son to feel left out. But at the same time, I don’t want to try and recreate a lot of the foods using soy and rice cheeses – that just aren’t as good. I want him to eat a variety of meats, grains, vegetables, fruits, taste a variety of flavors, and enjoy food as much as we do.

Over the last few of years, I have been experimenting, on a daily basis, and striving to create a great selection of non-dairy meals. Now that I have this knowledge, I want to share it with other families who are in the same situation, hoping it will make mealtime an easy and enjoyable experience for everyone.
